Farmers warned to be on the lookout for fraudsters

Ashley Mujoma

LANDS, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement Minister, Dr Anxious Masuka, has warned farmers to be vigilant to avoid losing their hard-earned cash to fraudsters.

The Minister’s warning comes in the wake of a bogus advert.

“We have taken note of a fake advertisement circulating on various social media platforms, calling for applications from prospective beneficiaries, through a link purporting to belong to the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development.

“Our official Facebook page is ‘Lands Agriculture Zimbabwe.’

“The Ministry has not reached a stage where it calls for expressions of interest from targeted beneficiaries who include agriculture producer groups, small business enterprises and value chain lead enterprises.”

He said the Ministry would not be held liable for any losses and inconveniences incurred by farmers who respond to this fake advert.
