The first show, which was organised by Evolve 12, was held at Bulawayo Club on Friday and on Saturday Vhomakhadzi held theirs at CIPF Centre popularly known as Bradlows Building.
Many designers participated at both shows.
The Friday show was dominated by Jermaine Ncube of J.J Rags who showed that Bulawayo has the potential to scale the fashion heights with his denim collection.
Speaking after the show, Sibongile Ngoroma said the show was a learning curve and next year it would be more organised.
She cited issues such as keeping time which was a major challenge for groups and models.
“The show went on well although the turnout was lower than we expected. We had targeted 100 but we got 60 which is not bad. Organising this show has been a learning curve and the only thing that is left is for people to keep time,” said Ngoroma.
On Saturday night the Vhomakhadzi Fashion Show kicked off late but the models did not disappoint.
The Vhomakhadzi Fashion show was meant to bring together small to medium businesses. The fashion show and dinner were held under the theme “A Night of all Things Glamorous and Elegant”.
In an interview one of the organisers, Beke Noko said they wanted next year’s show to be bigger and better.
She said the orgasnisers realised that local small to medium businesses had no platform to network hence the decision to bring them together at the show.
“Such platforms were lacking in the city, for small businesses to network and find out what they have to offer. There are products that we import that we can find here in Bulawayo from someone around the corner but because we are not networking, we have no information,” said Noko.
