Fashion week organisers call for nominations

Organisers of the upcoming Zimbabwe Fashion Week are calling for nominations for the annual Zimbabwe Fashion Awards 2013 that will run in line with the week-long fashion extravaganza starting this Saturday. As per tradition, the Zimbabwe Fashion Awards are expected to close off the week of showcases. ZFW head of public relations and communications Rutendo Denise said the awards are primarily aimed at acknowledging and rewarding individuals and organisations that have been outstanding and consistent in their contribution to Zimbabwe’s fashion industry.

Those wishing to submit nominations can visit the ZFW website www.zimfashionweek.com.
Meanwhile, Belgian-born kwaito star Tamara Dey (pictured right) is set to perform at the awards ceremony. Born to an Italian father and South African mother, Dey first burst onto the music scene in 2000. Christened the “First Lady of Kwaito”, an icon of township pop, & “The First Lady of Song”, Dey was discovered by DJ Pepsi. She collaborated in chart-topping hits that launched her career in 2000.

The categories for Zimbabwe Fashion Awards 2013 are as follows:
1. Hairstylist of the Year
2. Make-up Artist of the Year
3. Photographer of the Year
4. Contributor to Fashion Media Award
5. Fashion Contributor of the Year
6. Fashion Blogger of the Year
7. Best Styled Man of the Year
8. Best Styled Woman of the Year
9. Style Icon of the Year
10. Male Model of the Year
11. Female Model of the Year
12. Accessories Designer of the Year
13. Emerging Designer of the Year
14. Young Designer of the Year
15. Designer of the Year
The following categories are up for public nomination:
1. Photographer of the Year
2. Blogger of the Year
3. Contributor to Fashion Media
4. Style Icon of the Year
5. Accessories Designer of the Year
