IN a major boost for the newly-introduced local currency, low-cost airline Fastjet Zimbabwe has announced that its travelers could now pay for their flight tickets using the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) introduced the new currency to the market on April 5 with businesses, mostly supermarkets and other service providers like Bulawayo City Council quickly embracing it.

The airliner, with routes from and to Johannesburg in South Africa and local routes from Harare to Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, took to its social media handles to announce the latest development.

“Have you heard today’s news? We now accept ZiG payments for your travel. Book now via the Fastjet app,” wrote Fastjet.
