Following years of being accused of possessing a goblin, a Mutambara man has been exonerated after the creature was recovered from his son’s house.

lt is believed that the goblin was being intimate with members of the Mwabaya family and their neighbours using mubobobo any time of the day.

This had caused a serious rift between the Himalaya community and the patriach of the Mwabaya family, Sekuru Garire Kufa Mwabaya.

This emerged when Sekuru Mwabaya approached Acting Chief Mutambara’s court for redress as the accusations were troubling him.

He said when the family consulted spiritual healers over the matter, the goblin was found at his son, Clifford Garire’s homestead.

“I don’t think I will ever forgive my son for this.

“For a decade, I have been at crossroads with all my children, my wife and neighbours as they accused me of using mubobobo on them and possessing a goblin.

“I denied all this but nobody listened to me. We were confused and we did not understand what was behind all this, only to find out last week that Clifford was behind everything,” said Sekuru Mwabaya.

He said his life had turned into a nightmare as his family was accusing him of acquiring a goblin while at night he was also a victim of the creature.

“This goblin turned my family against me. At one time my daughters made a police report against me saying I was raping them in their sleep. I appeared in court facing rape charges. My family then realised that the matter was spiritual and withdrew the charges,” he said.

Acting on Acting Chief Mutambara’s orders, the family teamed up with Sekuru Shumba, a traditional healer, and proceeded to Sekuru Mwabaya’s home where he was exonerated.

The search party proceeded to Clifford’s home where they then unearthed a goblin.

When Sekuru Shumba cut the creature’s head, it produced a reddish liquid.

He went on to stab the creature’s stomach and smoke oozed out from it, thereby covering the whole homestead.

In an interview with The Weekender, Sekuru Mwabaya’s wife, Gogo Nolliet Mangwarira said she was happy her husband had been exonerated.

“Our marriage was on the rocks. We knew something or someone was being intimate with us and since he was the only man at home, we accused him of doing that. Even neighbours complained that Mwabaya was being intimate with them. It was a huge relief when it was discovered that he was not behind all this,” she said.

The couple’s daughter, Pride, who pressed rape charges against her father a decade ago, begged for forgiveness during the court session.

“This goblin was wreaking havoc in our family. I left home and never set foot there for 10 years because of the horror we were being subjected to. I dreaded going back home, but now that the goblin is gone, I will be back home,” she said.

However, Clifford was in default when Acting Chief Mutambara presided over the matter last week on Saturday.

Acting Chief Mutambara ordered him to pay a fine of US$200 and two beasts.

However, when Clifford was contacted, he insisted that he had nothing to do with the goblin.

Sekuru Mwabaya paid the fine on his son’s behalf.
