A 31-YEAR-OLD father of seven offered $10 to his ex-wife for the upkeep of their seven-month-old baby and the woman was shocked to discover in court that the man has six other children.
The court heard that Farai Mwandura`s wife is also pregnant.
Ms Filice Nhliziyo told Bulawayo Magistrate Mr Sheunesu Matova that Mwandura was an irresponsible man.
She said she wanted him to pay $120 per month in maintenance.
In response, Mwandura offered $10 per month for the upkeep of the baby.
He said he had six other children to fend for and his wife was expecting another child.
“Your worship I can afford $10 because I am already maintaining six other children from two different women. What has worsened my situation is that I`m no longer working because the company I used to work for closed last month,” he said.
Mwandura showed the court two records to prove he is paying maintenance.
The first record showed that in February this year, he was ordered to pay $30 for one minor child sired with Ms Simokuhle Zikhali.
The second record showed that in October last year the court also ordered him to pay $20 maintenance to Ms Actavia Mabhena.
Magistrate Matova ordered Mwandura to pay $30 per month for the upkeep of his seven-month-old baby.
