ALICK Macheso’s camp has revealed that the sungura kingpin is FINE and resting at home after he escaped from a road accident unharmed in the early hours of Father’s Day yesterday.

The accident happened near the Blue Ridge complex along Mutoko Road.

His car, a Toyota Fortuner GD6, suffered significant damage.

Macheso was a passenger in the car as he rarely drives home after holding a show.

“He was merely a passenger occupying the back seat when the accident occurred,” his publicist, Tich Makahamadze, told H-Metro.

“He escaped unhurt and is now resting at home.”

Makahamadze said Macheso rarely drives long distances after his shows.

“We praise the Lord for protecting him and for the great favour He has shown us today (yesterday).

“He hardly drives himself after shows because he is usually exhausted.

“As such, his driver was behind the wheel.”

He added:

“We were shocked to receive news that they had been involved in an accident with a kombi early Sunday morning while travelling back home.

“We would also like to set the record straight that he is safe and sound, contrary to some reports circulating on social media.”

Makahamadze urged social media users to use their platforms responsibly.

“A lot of negative content has been circulating on social media for most of Sunday, with unfounded theories being shared.

“It was simply an accident caused by human error, but we are grateful to God that our boss, and all the passengers in the vehicle, are safe and sound as we speak.

“Such things can happen and people should simply praise the Lord for protecting us on the roads,” he added.

The Toyota Fortuner GD6 involved in the accident was not the vehicle donated to Macheso by Chivayo, as has been claimed on social media.

Macheso was gifted a US$140,000 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE400d (Premium Plus) by Chivayo in March 2024.

His Toyota Fortuner GD6 sustained damage to both its front and rear sections.

Macheso is not the only high-profile figure to have been involved in an accident in recent months.

Comedian Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima and the late Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi’s widow, Daisy, have also been involved in accidents.

However, most of these accidents were attributed to human error rather than vehicle defects.

“Accidents can happen to anyone, whether they are driving a donated vehicle or not,” commented a social media user.

Macheso’s camp also praised fans for their emotional support at a time when false rumours about his condition were spreading.

“We want to thank our loyal fans who have been calling us to inquire about his condition.

“Like I indicated earlier, he is safe and sound and resting at home,” insisted Makahamadze.
