FC PLATINUM powered to their first league win of the season after a storming first-half show destroyed Premiership newboys Flame Lily at Mandava yesterday.

Although play was made difficult due to the waterlogged pitch following the rains that pounded the mining town, the hosts were by far the better team.

Thabani Kamusoko was the first to find the target when his free-kick on the left side of the box went past goalkeeper Prosper Chigumbura in the 20th minute.

FC Platinum man-of-the-moment, Walter Musona doubled his team’s lead when he headed home the second goal past substitute goalkeeper Earnmore Hamandishe who came in for the injured Chigumba.

Donald Ngoma then slammed a third in time added on in the first half.

“It’s a long marathon. We’re in the league to compete and that’s what we’re going to focus on,” said FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza.

“The pitch wasn’t in a good condition, we couldn’t move the ball fast enough.”

Flame Lily coach, Nesbert Saruchera, felt his goalkeeper was kicked while on the ground, and this disrupted his team’s concentration.
