FC PLATINUM president, George Mawere has said his side is not in a hurry to appoint a new coach following the departure of Tennant Chilumba.
Chilumba took over as head coach at the Zvishavane-based platinum miners at the beginning of the season where he was in charge of 13 league matches winning six, drawing four and losing three. He left the team on fifth position on the log standings.

The Zambian expatriate left for Zambia on Friday to join his former club Power Dynamos.
His assistant Tendai Chikuni who took charge of the team for the remainder of last season following the departure of Rahman Gumbo has been given the reigns on an interim basis.

With many names being thrown around to possibly take over from the  Zambian among them Sunday Chidzambwa who was recently axed from relegated South Africa Super Diski side, Black Leopards, “Kugona Kunenge Kudada’’ president Mawere said they would not rush to look for a replacement and would only recruit someone with the right credentials.

“We are not at all in a hurry to replace Chilumba because we have an equally good replacement in (Tendai) Chikuni who has done fairly well in the past. It will take some time to find a replacement  because we want someone who has the right credentials and understands the culture of the club.

“There are a lot of considerations for instance FC Platinum is a community team and when we hire, it has to be someone who can understand  the expectations of the people in this kind of set up,’’ said Mawere.

The club has witnesed a high staff turnover  and this is probably why the executive wants to take its time to select the right candidate for the hot seat.

Mawere said it could take up to three months to appoint a new coach.
Meanwhile, FC Platinum walloped a Gweru Select 4-0 at Ascot Stadium in a charity match yesterday.
