NORMAN Mapeza was a happy man as his charges collected maximum points in their first premiership match of the 2016 Castle Lager season at Mandava Stadium yesterday.
“We are happy to have started on a positive note. We noted some negatives and positives from the match and we are going to work on the negatives. We knew they would play counter attacks but we managed to keep possession and all we need is to keep working hard because we still have a long way to go during the season,” said Mapeza.
Platinum were the first to settle when they found the opener through a header from new signing Nqobizitha Masuku barely 14 minutes into the game.
Hilary Bakacheza a major signing for the Platinum miners from Triangle roasted his marker on the left and fed Elvis Moyo who had overlapped on the left who in turn fed Masuku.
The goal brought smiles on the FC Platinum fans but a lapse in concentration saw them being hit on the counter attack by Tsholotsho.
A goal kick from the goalkeeper to Kriess Chitiyo on the left saw the attacking midfielder sending a cross to Mustafa Ponyera whose header went beyond the reach of FC Platinum goalkeeper Petros Mhari in the 45th minute.
FC Platinum sealed the scoreline in the 83rd minute when a cross from defender Moyo was met with a first time shot by Obrey Chirwa who beat the Tsholotsho keeper Marichi all systems out.
