FC Platinum recall 11 players on loan

The latest move comes in the wake of the firing of coach Rahman “Rush” Gumbo, a development which the club never confirmed but sources within the team said that the caretaker Warriors mentor was on his way out.

Tendai Chikuni who was Rush’s assistant took over the reins on an interim basis and was in charge of the team’s 3-1 win over struggling Hardbody where he was  assisted by former Shabanie Mine striker, Patrick Mandizha.

Gumbo declared the players excess baggage during the off-season but the players might find themselves back in the fold under a new coach.

Players that include Nelson Mazivisa have been performing well at neighbours Shabanie Mine with three other players — Nengomasha Muranganwa, Farai Musesengwa and Francis Kanda.

Mazivisa has been a revelation in the league this season and is the league’s top goal scorer having found the target on 10 occasions and FC Platinum is likely to recall the goal poacher to bolster an impotent attack which has been finding it difficult to get goals in the absence of chief striker, Donald Ngoma, who recently returned to action after being sidelined by an injury.

Other players who have been loaned to other clubs include Tapiwa Marime, Aleck Marime (both Hardbody), Bhekimpilo Nyoni (Highlanders), Brighton Dube (Chicken Inn), Willard Manondo (Gunners) and Golden Munandi who is turning out for a Division One side in Bulawayo.

Philemon Muvengwa, the FC Platinum secretary, confirmed that they had called for a meeting with players on loan but could not reveal the agenda of the indaba.

“For your own information why we have called the players is based on them being our players and what we want to discuss with them cannot be discussed in public,” said Muvengwa.

Kugona Kunenge Kudada lie second with 24 points, four points behind early pacesetters Highlanders.

The Zvishavane side is likely to bolster their side to atone for last year’s disappointment when the club blew a 15-point lead only to finish as runners-up to Dynamos in the championship race.
