FC PLATINUM as well as Black Rhinos Queens have been given the green light by the Sports and Recreation Commission to prepare for their respective Confederation of African Football assignments scheduled for next month.
Yesterday, the SRC advised that Black Rhinos Queens have been cleared to resume training in preparation for participation in the inaugural Caf Women’s Champions League Cosafa qualifier to be held from 26 August to 4 September in Durban, South Africa. Black Rhinos Queens will square off against Green Buffaloes of Zambia and TURA Magic in the group stage of the regional competition whose winner will progress to the Caf Women Champions League to be held later on this year.
FC Platinum have been cleared to start training, preparation and participation in the Caf Champions League. According to Caf, the 2021/22 season will kick-off on 10 September 2021 with the first round of the preliminaries with the group stage to start in February 2022.

Other notable approvals made by the SRC include the green light for the Zimbabwe women’s cricket team (Lady Chevrons) to take on Thailand from 18-31 August in four 50-over matches and three Twenty20 Internationals as well as One Day International fixtures against Ireland scheduled for 5-14 October.
Zimbabwe men’s and women’s sevens rugby teams have also been cleared for international assignments.
Tennis Zimbabwe have been given the green light to host the Zimbabwe – China Davis Cup match series from the 17th to the 18th of September 2021 in Harare.
National Under-21 men and women’s hockey teams can now resume training as they prepare to participate in the World Cup qualifiers to be held in Namibia from 14-21 August.
National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe have been granted permission to send athletes and officials to Kenya for the World Junior Championships to be held from 17-22nd August. — @Mdawini_29
