FC Platinum to cement top place

FC PLATINUM look set to cement their place at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League this afternoon when they host troubled Border Strikers at Mandava. The Zvishavane side have had a flying start to the season under Norman Mapeza and are currently perched at the top of the table.

Mapeza has already made history by going for 27 league matches without defeat. The miners last lost a league match on May 9, last year to Dynamos. Their opponents Border Strikers are yet to pick a point.

Mapeza said it will be serious business as usual for his men.

“It’s going to be a difficult game for us. Everybody knows that Border have not been doing well and we can’t under-estimate them.

“We know the dangers that can be posed by such clubs.

“We will not under-estimate them and we are taking the game very seriously. We want a positive result. The pressure is always on us,” said Mapeza.

Mapeza reported a clean bill of health in his camp.

Border Strikers coach Saul Chaminuka has promised to be the first coach to stop Mapeza.

“Every dog has its own day. We are likely to surprise the miners in their backyard because anything can happen in football. We need to start picking up points and I think something will happen against FC Platinum,” said Chaminuka.
