Fear grips Tynwald pupils

A TYNWALD High School parent says her children are now scared to go on school trips.

This follows the death of six students along Nyanga Road on Friday.

The parent told H-Metro that her two children, in Form 1 and Form 4 at the school, were shaken by the tragedy, which took the lives of their two friends.

“My Form 1 child wanted to go for the trip but I prevented her, saying that we had visited Nyanga in December last year, as a family,” said the parent.

“Her father did not know about the school trip, as I had kept it away from him to save money.

“He was shocked to hear about the school trip accident.

“The Form 1 child was heavily affected by the accident because two of her friends died.

“Her sister was also affected and they now say they are no longer interested in going on school trips.”

A number of Tynwald High students have been psychologically affected by the disaster.

The headmaster, Kennias Matimba, promised to take all students for clinical and psychological counselling.
