Fear grips village

red pieces of clothes tied with a red string, a new razor blade, some padlocks, a pick stuck on a tree trunk, a new pot with a lid and several matchsticks.

These objects were seen by another villager while herding cattle a fortnight ago.
Senior village head Mr Enock Mathaga Muleya said villagers were still in shock.
He said a woman discovered the objects and alerted village elders.

Mr Muleya said they would soon call herdsmen in the district for a cleansing ceremony.
“Everyone is really shocked by the discovery of the mysterious objects in our village. We believe this could be another reason why we have had perennial droughts in this area.”

Mr Muleya said the whole village was terrified, adding villagers were now afraid of herding cattle in the same area.

Ward 6 councillor Mr Joseph Muleya expressed concern on the discovery, adding that they needed to conduct an urgent cleansing ceremony. He said a meeting of the traditional leaders and villagers would be held to map the way forward.

“We need to cleanse the area as soon as possible as we strongly suspect this is an act of witchcraft” he said.
