Fear still abounds in Hatcliffe community

Farayi Bhunu, did not report for work.
Less than 50 percent of the pupils attended school.
“Pupils are still afraid to come because they think they will mutate into animals. Some of those who came had to be escorted to the school’s gate so that they will not abscond.
“It is quiet today as compared to other days when schoolchildren will be making all sorts of noises and I can safely say less than half of the total attended classes,” the source said.
One parent Pearson Madengu said school authorities must address parents and counsel the pupils.
“My child refused to go to school today and he is still confused although he is interested in coming back.
“Something must be done or else this will affect our children,” he said.
“Can the Government do something about these issues, we are a Christian country but many weird things have been happening of late.”
The school headmistress Ms Fungai Khoza was not available to comment as she was said to be in a meeting.
The teacher-in-charge who was only identified as Mrs Chiwade refused to comment.
However, Harare provincial education director Mr Edward Shumba said his office was awaiting  a report to determine the course of action.
“We are waiting for the outcome from the police and we are not able to comment regarding the issue of Satanism or the school teacher alleged to be involved.
“We will conduct our own investigations and we instructed the district education officer to go to the school to compile a report.
“From that report we will determine the way forward. At the moment, the Psychological Services and Special Needs personnel will be deployed to the school.
“They will counsel the pupils since it’s a very key area to look at. They might not do it very soon because of their schedule, but something will be done,” Mr Shumba said.
