A NUMBER of people who recently bought meat from street vendors, who operate around the Copacabana vicinity of the Harare CBD, have been feasting on sausages which were once stashed in a woman’s undergarments.
Sarudzai Makomo, 43, of Glen View disclosed this when she was busted on Wednesday stashing three packets of Country Style sausages, and two packets of powdered milk, into her undergarments at OK Five Avenue Supermarket.
Makomo, a mother of two, told H-Metro that she had been shoplifting for the past two weeks.
“I have been shoplifting for the past two weeks,” she said.
“I sell the stolen groceries at Copacabana bus terminus.
“I always put on some tights, and a long dress, so that the groceries are secured and unnoticed.”
Makomo was spotted on CCTV at the supermarket stashing the meat and apprehended as she was about to leave the shop.
She was taken to Five Avenue police base where she confessed to her two-week life of stealing.
