SARAH Dhliwayo, also known as Sarah Dee, is spearheading a ground-breaking initiative to honour female creatives with the All-Female Artists Awards Zimbabwe (Afaaz), set to take place on 29 March at a yet-to-be-disclosed location.

The awards, organised by Sarah Dee Creations Africa, aim to shine a spotlight on the contributions of women in the creative sectors.

In her quest to secure support for the awards, Sarah Dee is actively engaging with potential sponsors.

“I am reaching out to a number of companies to introduce myself and our company, as I believe there may be potential opportunities for collaboration and requesting partnership. The entertainment company is a registered business entity in talent search, grooming and management of up-and-coming artists. I am an artiste who is innovative and efficient. As I have been in this industry for the past 20 years, I have come across challenges and it is indeed the time to appreciate the female artiste,” she stated.

A documentary capturing the inaugural event will be produced, encapsulating the theme “If you empower a woman you have fed the nation.”

Sarah Dee is calling upon stakeholders to contribute to the success of this empowering project.

“With people coming on board, we in turn facilitate job creation as well as we shall train a few youths who are jobless so that they help through delegated tasks until the big day. We shall be having a 17 member committee, which shall run this through, under the founders’ authority,” she explained.

On Friday, a draw will be held to select companies that will sponsor individual awards, playing a crucial role in supporting female creatives. —@mthabisi_mthire
