Female Zimbabwean doctor sets records in Ireland

Zimbabwe’s Dr Tafadzwa Mandiwanza has become the first female Paediatric Neurosurgeon in Ireland.
Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Dr Mandiwanza grew up with a passion for medicine and has now broken barriers in one of the toughest and most male-dominated fields.

She says she loves working with children, finding them more resilient than adults.
In an interview, she highlighted how women bring empathy and humility to surgery, challenging long-standing stereotypes.

Despite the global challenges faced by female surgeons, Dr Mandiwanza notes she has not faced discrimination in her consultant role.

A true inspiration and role model for aspiring doctors everywhere.
