Ferguson attacks Alan Pardew

Manchester United’s 4-3 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
The United boss escaped an FA charge because Dean did not include the incident in his official match report.

But Newcastle manager Pardew claimed Ferguson should have been charged, which drew a furious response from the United boss.

“Alan Pardew has come out and criticised me,” said Ferguson. “He is the worst for haranguing referees. His whole staff, every game. He was at it the whole game on Wednesday.

“He shoves a referee then makes a joke of it and he’s got the cheek to criticise me. It’s unbelievable and he forgets the help I’ve given him by the way.

“The Press have addressed every possible avenue over this. The only one they’ve left out is Barack Obama! He’s too busy.

“That’s unfortunate but I’m the manager of the most famous club in the world. I’m not at Newcastle, a wee club in the north-east. But that’s a fact of life.

“I was demonstrative, but I was not out of order. But that’s the way I am. I’m an emotional guy.
“Some managers (Pardew) shove linesmen on the pitch and make a joke of it. I’m not making a joke of it. It was a serious decision and I think the goal should have been disallowed.
“The problem for me and Manchester United is that the profile of the club is huge.”
Ferguson has also defended his actions of encroaching onto the pitch and stands by his assessment of the incident — but did not criticise Dean.

“I thought the first hand was on Evans from Cisse. The rule book says if an opponent is interfering with defender then he is off-side, it says it clearly in the rule book.

“The interpretation is from Mike Dean is that he was not interfering, I think he was. I think that is reasonable. I thought Mike Dean handled it well. He is an experienced referee, mature.

“There was no ranting and raving from me. I was demonstrative but then I am always demonstrative — everyone knows that. I’m an emotional guy.

“What happened was that Dean was walking towards the centre circle and I came up to the touchline and he came towards me and I went towards him. I was not on the pitch for more than three or four yards. Then we came off together.”

Ferguson’s side face West Brom today and Ferguson revealed it was too early to reveal full injury news just two days on from the Wednesday game.

But he expects veteran midfielders Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs to miss out with Phil Jones also a doubt. — The Mirror.
