Midlands Christian College (MCC) v Vainona High School
MCC, playing under floodlights, stole hearts when they narrowly lost to Churchill High School 18-20 on Thursday night. They have mastered the art of open play and the ball will certainly get to the wings and back again. Vainona have a lot of heart and they will tackle very hard.
Eaglesvale School v Hillcrest College
This will be a mild encounter and judging from both team’s progess this year, they are evenly matched. In short this is a dress rehearsal of the oncoming Co-education schools league.
Lomagundi College v Falcon College
This will be a tall order for Lomagundi as they are likely to be overpowered by the boys from Esigodini. So long as Falcon retains the ball, Lomagundi stands a slim chance. Lomagundi were impressive in the first minutes against Windhoek Technical on Thursday but they ran out of steam. It is highly unlikely they will stand the heat today.
Churchill High School v St John’s College
Normally we would have St John’s using size superiority but Churchill’s flare makes the size difference marginal. If you need a team with a bloodthirsty backline then the Churchill Bulldogs will never disappoint. However, there is a tendency to have their egos getting in the way and no matter how hard tackling and hard running they can be this is their Achilles Heel. St John’s have good pack movement and it will be their vantage point.
St Georges College v Peterhouse College
The name Brandon Mandivenga will be on everyone’s lips tomorrow. He is the utility back from Peterhouse who also played in the 2012 Zimbabwe schools team, his impact alone may well be the difference between the two sides. Against the Saints it is difficult to tell who will come out tops, it will be a low score game as both sides will brutally battle on the midfield.
Prince Edward School v Windhoek Technical
The main event, the grand finale will be played under lights. Windhoek are on a high note as they are unbeaten so far on their Zimbabwe tour. Thanks in a main to the lightweight teams that they had a chance to pounce on. They have it coming tomorrow as the Tigers have home advantage and it is a must win for them in their bid to bounce back from last year’s finale defeat. Tigers are no longer a massive pack. This will be the ideal dip stick to see how well the Tigers will fare all season as Windhoek are a disciplined side who never lose sight of the basics.
