Filabusi machete man gets away with US$1 000

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested Professor Sibanda (22) in connection with a robbery case that occurred in Nkankezi Business Centre, Filabusi in Matabeleland South province.

Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena said the suspect, Sibanda, is accused of attacking the complainants with a machete before ransacking their car and getting away with US$1000.

The incident took place on 9 April. One of the complainants was identified as Emmanuel Murose (36). Inspector Mangena said Murose was in his car with friends at the business centre when they were approached by the accused.

The accused is said to have struck Murose with a machete on the right hand. Murose and his friends then ran away, leaving the accused to search the car and steal the money.

The matter was reported at Filabusi Police Station and the accused was later arrested and is assisting police with investigations.
