A feature film titled “Leaving Kachomba” written by renowned film producer and director Joe Njagu is on the cards.
Producer of the film Rufaro Kaseke said they are working on the production which they are targeting to launch at Berlin Festival in September.
“We are working on this feature film called ‘Leaving Kachomba’. We have finished the script and it is being reviewed by our co-producer in England and after that we start casting.

“We are targeting to launch it at the Berlin Festival then we release it in Zimbabwe soon afterwards,” he said.
The film is about a boy who goes out on an impossible mission to get his brother’s eyes treated and it has a lesson that love conquers all obstacles.

“The film is about a young boy who develops an eye problem and becomes blind. He and his older brother set out to go to Harare on foot to get the eyes treated.
“Unfortunately they both have never been there and they cannot read or write. So the story follows them through their gruesome journey to Harare to find the doctors but they never get there.”

Kaseke said they have short listed a brilliant street kid to play the lead.
“We have short listed a brilliant street kid whom we cannot name him now and we are getting other key crew members from established pools of film talent,” he said.

Njagu was honoured by a South African non-governmental organisation, in the top 35 Under-35 Young African Leaders in International Affairs in the media category in 2012.He also received best director award from the American Film Festival for the movie “The Gentleman”.
