THE late arts promoter and Insiza North legislator, Farai “Boss Fimbo” Taruvinga, will be honoured tomorrow at a star-studded remembrance gala, as his former manager, Sifiso “Mafifie” Mpofu, continues his mission to empower and uplift local talent.
The event, titled the “Boss Fimbo Remembrance Gala”, will be held at Scooter Joint and seeks to celebrate not only his life but also his enduring passion for promoting home-grown artistes.

Organisers have curated a vibrant line-up to appeal to all music enthusiasts, featuring performances across rhumba, Afro-beats, hip-hop and Zimdancehall. The stage will host renowned acts including rhumba legend Clement Magwaza, hip-hop star Holy Ten, Afro-fusion artiste Oriyano and Zimdancehall heavyweights Jah Master and Ndunge Yut. Emerging talents Jaycee Rappadict and Zhezhingtons will also bring their energy to the celebration. DJs Phidza, Thamah, Torry and Tonic will keep the crowd engaged with non-stop mixes, while MC Peter will oversee proceedings as host.

In an interview, Mafifie shared that the gala reflects Boss Fimbo’s dream of creating opportunities for local musicians.
“The line-up was inspired by the artistes we collaborated with over the years. This is more than just an event — it’s a continuation of Boss Fimbo’s vision to promote music and empower local talent,” said Mafifie.
He emphasised that this initiative will not end with a single show.
“To keep his dream alive, we’ll continue bringing quality entertainment to Filabusi. We also plan to incorporate international acts in future, but our main priority remains giving local artistes the platform they deserve,” he said.

Thanks to Boss Fimbo’s vision, Filabusi earned a place on the entertainment map, with Scooter Joint regularly hosting top local and regional acts such as Jah Prayzah, Alick Macheso and Big Zulu. At each event, local artistes from Filabusi were included in the line-up and given the opportunity to share the stage and interact with established performers — creating invaluable chances to grow their careers. — @mthabisi_mthire
