FORMER Commonwealth boxing champion Arifonso Zvenyika says he has opened a new chapter in his life.
He says it will be completely different from the one he lived in the past.
It also means that he will soon be leaving his home neighbourhood of Mbare and settling in the eastern neighbourhoods of Harare.
For good measure, he has even acquired a driver’s license.
He acquired the license on Wednesday and this enabled him to take ownership of the car he was given by businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
He thanked the businessman for the donation and the cash he received to fund the treatment of his wife.
He has also bought a residential stand on the eastern side of Harare.
“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child,” said Zvenyika yesterday.
“When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
“I lost my first chance when I got money as a boxing champion.
“I squandered my wealth and retired without owning a residential stand.
“But God has given me another chance through Sir Wicknell Chivayo.”
He said he regrets his past.
“It was a time of madness when I squandered my wealth but this time I am a man – I no longer behave like a child.
“I am a born-again person and I will use this vehicle to spread the good news about the resurrected Jesus Christ.
“My wife endured with me during my time of madness and she will not be forsaken — so I will stand by my family.”
