Fire gutted parts of the Glenview Area 8 Furniture Complex in Harare yesterday, destroying property and furniture worth thousands of dollars.

The cause of the fire had not yet been established by last night, while the full extent of the damage was still being assessed.

Furniture operators at the complex described the incident as the biggest fire ever recorded at the site, with preliminary estimates indicating losses running into millions.

Harare City Council emergency services attended the scene and managed to contain the blaze before it spread further.
