A FIRE, which broke out at Harare Sports Club on Tuesday night after Zimbabwe’s victorious outing against Netherlands, will not disrupt the ICC World Cup Qualifier matches set for the venue.

A quick response by the Fire Brigade meant that the fire, which broke out just behind the main supporters’ stand around 8pm, was dealt with.

Zimbabwe Cricket spokesperson, Darlington Majonga, said the programme will go on as scheduled.

“ZC can confirm a fire occurred at Harare Sports Club behind the south-west grandstand at the venue (Tuesday) night,” said Majonga.

“A prompt response from the City of Harare Fire Brigade ensured the flames were quickly doused and there was no damage caused to any of the structures at the ground.

“Tomorrow’s (today’s) ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023 fixture at Harare Sports Club will not be affected and will proceed as scheduled.”

Zimbabwe’s Chevrons have a bye today and are back in action on Saturday against the West Indies at Harare Sports Club.

The Chevrons won their opening games against Nepal and the Netherlands by eight and six wickets.

The Windies will take on Nepal at Harare Sports Club today while the Netherlands and the United States battle at Takashinga.
