CHAPUNGU Queen’s coach Perkins “Yellow” Nyamutamba says they aim for champions Herentals Queens scalp this morning as two of the giants of in the Women’s Football Super League clash at Motor Action Sports Club.
The Air Force of Zimbabwe side is fifth on the table with 24 points and three games in hand.
While Herentals Queens are leading the pack with 35 points.This season the competition has been tough with all the top four thus Herentals, Harare City, Black Rhinos and Correctional Queens battling for the top four.
The best talent will be on show this morning when the two teams that have good players battle it out.
“It will be a tough match. They are the leaders and not a team to underrate. But we have prepared very well and if you want to achieve, you have to beat the champions. We have a new strategy for them,” he said.
The former Chapungu Football Club player Nyamutamba says his players have begun their season well and would be hoping to maintain the form.
He singled out forward Dorothy Nyoni, who has scored 16 goals thus far as one of the players who is in good form and is scoring in every game.
However, the airwomen face a big task against the champions who have vowed to defend their league title.
Herentals Queens ended the dominance of Black Rhinos Queens last season when they won their first league trophy.
Herentals coach Simbarashe Dedze have said they want to retain the trophy.
The Students have quality players in the form of attackers Praynence Zvawanda, Maud Mafuruse Melody Tatenda and Shyline Dambamuromo.
They also have a solid defence led by veteran former Mighty Warriors goalkeeper Lindiwe Magwede.
Fans are guaranteed entertainment this morning when the rivals meet.
Elsewhere, debutants Platinum Royals meet Midlands State University in a Midlands derby at MSU Grounds in Gweru.
Platinum Royals Sithetheliwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda last week said her players need to do more in terms of scoring.
“We can still be better in terms of our finishing. Yes, we are scoring but we are missing many chances so I think we can be better in terms of our conversion rate,” she said.
Former champions Black Rhinos Queens travel to Gweru for a match against Queen Lozikeyi at Ascot while Harare City Queens host Faith Drive Academy at Dzivarasekwa.
