SEVENTH Day Adventist (SDA) acapella music group, Firm Faith Zimbabwe, is set to drop their ninth album this Saturday.
The new offering titled “Shoko Rengirozi Nhatu” is made up of 15 tracks, with the theme extracted from Revelations 14:6-9.
“Inzwa Maungira”, “Nzira Imbiri”, “Tendeuka”, “Ishe Wema Dzishe” and “Fill My Cup” are some of the songs on the album.
According to the group, the songs are mainly for worship and not entertainment.
Speaking in an interview with The Sunday Mail Society, director of Firm Faith Zimbabwe, Marshal Matsilele, said the power of song in spreading the gospel messages is undisputable.
“Our main mandate is to spread the word of God. There are many ways of sharing the word and music is one of them. It is a powerful way of communicating as the message spreads far and wide,” said Matsilele.
He added that he was happy with the current reception of their music.
“Things are changing. In the past, we would get less airplay on the radio and in turn, very few people appreciated our songs.
“However, it is now a different case altogether. We now have a solid presence on radio and many people are looking for our albums,” he said.
To further boost their appeal, Firm Faith Zimbabwe are now making use of selected instruments in some of their productions.
They are also collaborating with artistes from outside their church.
“Our music is now different from back in the days as we are now adding some instruments and featuring a wide range of musicians.
“We want the songs to appeal to a wider audience and not only our church members. On ‘Inzwa Maungira’, we featured Sharon Manyonganise, while on ‘Mweya Mutsvene’ we worked with Everton Mlalazi and Peniel Tambana,” added Matsilele.
The album will be launched on May 7 at Harare City Centre Church, situated close to Harare Gardens. The event will also be a live DVD recording session.
