Prosecutor Ms Francesca Mukumbiri told the court that police detectives from CID Serious Fraud Squad received information that Chigumba was selling brown sugar contained in 2kg packets yet the sugar weighed 1,8kg, to general dealers.
The detectives teamed up with officials from the Trade Measures department which is under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and proceeded to ChiChi enterprises. The company’s employees were caught in the process of repackaging sugar from 50kg bags into 2kg packets.
