The beneficiaries were drawn from the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province and the occasion was held at Drill Hall.
In a speech read on his behalf by Deputy Commissioner-General Levy Sibanda, the Commissioner General of Police Augustine Chihuri said the act of goodwill exhibited by the company demonstrated that ZRP was
not alone in striving to improve the welfare of their orphans and widows.
“Certainly as an organisation, we are humbled by the generous hosting of a Christmas party and hampers for 100 orphaned children and 50 widows. If God is to bless the work of our hands then we should always remember the widows and orphans in the manner that the director of Elite Car Hire has done,” said Comm Gen Chihuri.
He said the hampers and the party would go a long way in motivating and comforting the orphans and the widows.
“This party and the hampers prepared for these orphans and the widows whose breadwinners died serving in the ZRP will go a long way in comforting them. The challenges militating against our economic revival endeavours do not spare these orphans who have to contend with less than two meals a day,” said Comm Gen Chihuri.
He urged other members of the corporate sector to emulate the gesture by Elite Car Hire through partnering ZRP in other areas of need.
