A Mufakose man appeared in court this week for allegedly stealing $20 000 from a company based in Waterfalls, Harare.

Tapera Tembo (43) appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Tilda Mazhande charged with robbery. He was denied bail and remanded to May 3.

Prosecuting, Ms Linda Gadzikwa alleged that on April 12, the complainant locked his offices and left Shepherd Machivenyika on guard duty. At around 9pm, the gun-toting Tembo, who was reportedly in the company of Leonard Huni, Dennis Mugoti, Sox, Knox and four others still at large, approached Machivenyika and disarmed him.

One of the gang members was left guarding Machivenyika while the rest proceeded to building.

They reportedly took away $20 000 cash from a chest of drawers, including $200 from a digital safe and fled the scene.
