Augur Investments, which is planning to build a US$100 million Mall of Zimbabwe in the upmarket suburb of Borrowdale in Harare say they have made concrete measures to preserve the environment and enhance the green belt area in the suburb.
This follows a petition by Wetlands Survival Forum calling for another environment impact assessment to be carried out before the project commences.

The Environmental Management Agency approved the project on condition that Augur Investments maintains a central wetland core.
“It has come to our attention that a petition is currently circulation from persons referring to themselves as the Wetlands Survival Forum. This petition is circulating under the style of ‘urgent petition’ and is undated. This document causes us great concern as it not only contains inaccuracies but presents only selective facts. Augur has conducted an environmental impact assessment as required by the law and this has been completed by registered experts and approved by EMA,” said Augur in a statement.
