Firm uses IT to harvest local skills

Business Reporter
A LOCAL ICT firm Hansole, famed for its Lost and Found service, has launched a new innovative product that effectively warehouses services providers who provide multiple services suited for those looking for locally available skills.
The Click a Service portal is a virtual platform enabling people to get services from reputable and professional individuals and firms.
Its search engine provides options for services near the individual who prompted the search according to their GPS positioning.
Hansole’s director Mr Andrew Maturure said the service was developed to conveniently link people to professionals in plumbing, mechanics, gardening and a host of other services.
“It is a platform to find honest, verified and dependable service providers at the click of a button.
“The platform is designed in such a way that you get the nearest service provider possible, depending on where you are (municipal districts),” he said.
The listed service providers are vetted before being linked to potential clients, with identification numbers, contact details and home address readily available.
The system has a rating system so that those whose services fall below expectations are culled.
The concept is the brainchild of Mr Andrew Maturure and JK Mutisi through their Developers on Software Lounge.
Technomag, the country’s technology magazine, said: “The platform may be a big bang and a hit in Zimbabwe if service providers register in masses to be able to cater for millions who are looking for their services but this is not going to be a walk in the park.
“The people they are targeting are the same people who are self -employed and looking for a dollar daily and moving them to market online in Zimbabwe will be demanding.”
The country’s broadband penetration has provided a solid platform for start-ups that intend to ride on the service to provide innovative products to locals.
While the country’s mobile penetration has reached saturation at 108 percent, the Internet penetration rate stands at 48 percent.
