Harare’s First Floor Gallery will be participating at the FNB Jo’burg Art Fair to be held in South Africa in September.
The Art Fair will see a number of galleries across the globe taking part.
Marcus Gora who is the gallery marketing director confirmed the development saying it was a milestone achievement towards exposing local artistic works. The gallery is currently selecting artistes that will exhibit in South Africa.
“We have a number of talented artistes and such are platforms for them to shine,” he said.
Gora said they were elated to be selected as Zimbabwe’s representative.
“We are happy to have been selected to participate at the art fair and it gives a chance for the young artistes that we work with to be introduced to the South African and international art market,” he said.
Gora said the youthful artistes will have the chance to exchange notes with their peers across the world.
This is one of the biggest events that gives an opportunity to these young artistes to develop and grow by being exposed to other galleries and fellow artistes.
Such events gives artistes time to interact and has on several times promoted cultural amalgamation among countries.
It is one platform that artistes can use to make a breakthrough on the international market through their artworks.
The artistes will have the opportunity to exhibit and will also have the chance to exchange contacts and create several networks.
More than 50 galleries will be taking part in the art fair .
The First Floor gallery will be joining other galleries such as ARTCO Aachen, Art First London, Barnard Gallery Cape Town, Blank Projects Cape Town and David Krut Projects Jo’burg.
