Esau despised his birthright but Jacob had revelation, he had a number 1 mentality. So when Esau came home one day exhausted and hungry, he asked for a portion of lentil stew from Jacob and Jacob seized the opportunity and demanded Esau’s birthright in exchange for the food. His aim was to attain the blessing law of being first. The two brothers became two nations, Israel and Edom that continued to battle against one another. Jacob managed to attain the blessing of being first, and because of that, his nation, Israel, became powerful and prosperous to this day. Jews are among the most prosperous people. Wherever they go, they accumulate wealth.
Israel today is leading in many areas. The economy of Israel is advanced by global standards, Israel ranks within the top 20 nations in the world on the latest report of the UN’s Human Development Index which places it in the category of “Very Highly Developed” (VHD) status, allowing the country to enjoy a higher standard of living compared to many other western countries. The prosperity of Israel’s advanced economy allows the country to have a sophisticated welfare state, modern infrastructure and a high technology sector comprehensively on par with Silicon Valley Israel has the second largest number of start-up companies in the world after the United States and the third largest number of NASDAQ-listed companies after the US and China. Microsoft and Apple built their first overseas research and development facilities in corporations, such as IBM, Google, HP, Cisco Systems, Facebook and Motorola in Israel.
Israel has a technologically advanced free market economy. Cut diamonds, high-technology equipment and pharmaceuticals are among its leading exports. An article in the financial times wrote of how Israel is leading in R&D Investments. Israel spends more on research and development as a share of its domestic resources than any other developed country. One government programme that has facilitated Israel’s growth in this sector is “Yozma” Hebrew for “initiative.”
Israel dominates in all high technology categories and its water industry is widely acknowledged as a world leader especially with its market-leading entrepreneurial technologies in the areas of desalination, water treatment, drip irrigation and water security.
