Meluleki Moyo
DELIBERATELY detached from reality and deeply immersed in the sometimes consequently regrettable acts of mob psychology, while pretending to be in the dark regarding his good deeds which arguably still echoed in their hearts, they cried out to Pilate: “Put this man to death, and free Barabbas!”
Pilate tried to reason with them for he did not see substance and veracity in the accusations levelled against the son of man, but his voice was submerged as they cried out even louder, “Let him be put to death on the cross!”
However, the laughter, scorn, ridicule and the pain Jesus was subjected to at Golgotha could not take away the righteousness and the good qualities in the person of the saviour, our precious gift from God. The accusations and criticism could not erase his good deeds for he had healed their sick in the cities, raised their fellows from the dead and had helped the poor. His name just went synonymous with acts of grace and grace itself.
When he breathed his last, they thought he was done and dusted, but alas! He was yet to resurrect and continue offering the world nothing besides good intentions amid forgiveness.
Added to possessing many qualities which drew many to light and emancipation, Jesus was also a very strict disciplinarian. I remember during one of his journeys to Jerusalem when he stumbled on money changers and traders doing their unrighteous business in the Lord’s Temple. In anger and disappointment, he made a whip of small cords and sent them stampeding out of the temple, scattering in all directions with their money and overturning tables in the process.
He was indeed a no-nonsense and upright servant of the Lord.
When Jesus gave up his spirit at Golgotha, among other manifestations of wrongs committed against an innocent soul, the Bible says the light of the sun went out and darkness plunged the land.
Talking of darkness. You see, when used as a prediction tool, music needs to be much more specific. Surprisingly, the founding member of the Orchestra Dendera Kings and war of liberation fighter, Simon “Chopper” Chimbetu, overcame this limitation and was spot on when he sang:
Kusina Mai, kusina Mai kunerima, Jehova chindibatsirai, ndavemunyika Iya isina Amai!
On a sad development, the departed liberation cadre can today be vilified by some sects of our unappreciative society as having been singing for his supper. The vilification campaign can even spiral down to my person, being accused of “bootlicking”. Whichever way you see it, please accord me the liberty to undisturbedly lick from facts, and luckily for me, there are no boots but facts in the proximity.
Ignore it at your own peril, but the name “Dr Grace Mugabe” shall be mentioned among the few individuals who without fear or favour, promoted transparency and offered solace to the needy and the disadvantaged during the days of their lives. Belting out tunes of grace, in words and deeds, she has become a celebrated personality and an ambassador for the truth and philanthropy in the nationalist project. No wonder why she has over the years become a household name.
The first lady’s amplified hard work for the nation has outshone the opposition. In a democracy, the presence of opposition political parties is very crucial as it helps keep the ruling party on its feet, added to promoting transparency. Unfortunately, for the Zimbabwe opposition movements, it’s a super sad, sad story.
Parading in ideological nudity and in command confusion like flies buzzing around a decomposing political corpse called Morgan Tsvangirai, following it to the grave, the opposition has dismally failed to fulfil its role. For instance, serving as credible alternatives to the ruling party, offering competition in ensuring better service delivery and preventing complacency by the sitting Government.
Before she faced Waterloo in 2014, being self-banished to a nyika isina Amai, many were in the dark regarding Joice Mujuru’s incompetence and corruption. Equating herself to God, Mujuru allegedly dispatched her prophets of doom who went to all provinces preaching the gospel of tithes and offerings. She allegedly demanded a 10 percent “tithe” in bribes from hapless potential investors, a move which arguably saw her being thrown into the political abyss in biblical Lucifer style. She had allegedly gone on an extortion rampage yet the opposition was deep in slumber and shockingly mum.
It only took Dr Amai to expose the rot in 2014. Getting down to appalling levels of attempting to carry the same yoke with other powerless spent forces, Mujuru has had numerous political false starts ever since she started living in political darkness.
Dr Grace Mugabe continues to fight a good fight for the nation. Many have asked, “Is this the philanthropist?” And yes, she is. Her fingerprints are traceable countrywide from the empowered women and to the less privileged including orphans in orphanages dotted around the country. A philanthropist par excellence, she has dedicated her time and exerted her attendance, including muscular in redefining life to the disadvantaged, added to proving that disability is not inability to the disabled.
The Mazowe area, the Danhiko and a plethora of other projects are all testimony to the works of her hands. We probably owe it to our names. In numerology, people with the name “Grace” are said to have a deeper inner desire for a stable community and a need to work with others. People with this name are also perceived to be excellent at analysing, understanding, and learning. When presented with issues, they usually see the larger picture.
In Christian theology, grace is something representing the love and mercy given to us by God out of his desire for us to have it. For God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Dr Amai Grace Mugabe has been a unifying force at a time we need people of her courage, stature and humility. A frank talker in perpetuation of the revolution, she has displayed a lot especially for the youth to emulate. We have learnt a lot regarding the importance of being upright and truthful.
A proven multi-tasker, the First Lady has thrown weight on national development initiatives despite being loaded with an assortment of roles which also include leading the Women’s League. Following in the footsteps of the biblical women-of-substance like Esther, Miriam, Dorcas (not Sibanda) and others, Amai Mugabe has brought joy to the nation even through food production enhancement in farms. Just tune in and listen to the loud echoes of Command Agriculture.
Malicious and unsubstantiated allegations will never submerge or rebuke amazingly sweet echoes of grace and good deeds, neither can they erase the smiles on the faces of thousands of orphans and women who have been emancipated and saved from the chains of subordination and poverty, thanks to the efforts of Dr Grace Mugabe.
Her echoes of grace can never be rebuked. In fact, they are selling like hot cakes and have actually gone platinum! Angels of darkness meant to incapacitate and dampen her philanthropist spirit may come from all angles but amid all the trials and tribulations, may Dr Mugabe for our sake, continue living up to her name and not be deterred in working for the nation.
