MINISTER of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Misheck Mugadza, has applauded First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa for her continued support in strengthening the country’s health delivery system.
Speaking at the handover of blankets and critical medical equipment at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital, Adv Mugadza said the First Lady’s gesture demonstrates a deep commitment to saving lives and improving access to quality health care, especially for children.
“This donation is more than charity. It is an investment in the future health and dignity of our people. It reflects her love and commitment to the people of Manicaland and Zimbabwe at large,” he said.
Adv Mugadza paid tribute to health workers, including doctors, nurses and auxiliary staff, describing them as “the hands that heal and the hearts that care.”
He commended their dedication to serving communities despite challenging circumstances.
He said the First Lady’s donation — which includes medical equipment, a fully functional ambulance, a vital biochemistry machine and chemotherapy drugs — will go a long way in strengthening paediatric and oncology care in the province.

“This is a powerful reminder of the First Lady’s mission to save lives and uplift our health facilities. Her support goes beyond this hospital and reaches other health centres across the country,” said Adv Mugadza.
The donation is expected to improve diagnostic capacity and ensure that children battling cancer and other critical illnesses receive the specialised treatment they need.
Adv Mugadza also highlighted that Manicaland’s health facilities serve over 1,5 million people, making such interventions crucial in enhancing service delivery and saving lives.
“No one should be denied the chance to fight for their life because of a lack of equipment or medication. This contribution gives hope to many families,” he said.
Victoria Chitepo Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr Hillary Makiwa, echoed the same sentiments, stating that the institution is expanding rapidly and urgently needed additional resources to cope with demand.
He described the donation as a major boost and expressed gratitude to the First Lady and the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

Dr Makiwa said the blankets would be put to good use and contribute significantly to the hospital’s quality of service delivery.
The event was attended by senior health officials including the Provincial Medical Director, doctors, nurses, and community representatives, who also expressed appreciation for the First Lady’s continued support.
