ANGEL of Hope Foundation, an organisation in which First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa is the patron, yesterday donated an assortment of goods to help contain the outbreak of cholera.

The water-borne disease has claimed 31 people so far and infected over 6 000.

Mrs Chipo Mtasa, who chairs the foundation’s board of directors, handed over the goods to Beatrice Road Infectious Diseases Hospital  on behalf of the First Lady.

Speaking during the handover ceremony yesterday, Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo said: “I would like to say that we are thrilled with the response we have managed to get from the general public, from corporates, and from organisations such as Angel of Hope.”

He thanked the First Lady and Angel of Hope Foundation for the donation.

“Angel of Hope you are really angels of hope, we have hope and you have really helped us. You have made sure that we have all the items that we require.

“We want to thank the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa for making this contribution which is a phenomenal contribution especially during this time of this outbreak. She has shown that she is motherly and she has shown that she cares,” he said

Grain Millers’ Association of Zimbabwe also donated 200 000 litres of treated water at Glen View Polyclinic.

GMAZ general manager Miss Linnet Veremu said they had identified what was needed by the community to prevent cholera.
