BULAWAYO’S first lady of comedy Nomsa Muleya lived up to her billing with a hilarious set during the Mahlekisa Comedy Nights on Friday night. The female comedian did not disappoint as she delivered arguably the best act of the night at Da Flame Restaurant to kick start this year’s comedy series.
She performed in front of about 50 people who clapped, cheered and laughed throughout her 15 minute set. Muleya gave lessons to men on the true intentions of women when they visit them at their homes. After the show Muleya said: “I was so nervous when I went on stage and I thought I was going to do badly. I wondered how I was going to be received by the people.”
She said she was going to improve her act for the upcoming shows. A patron, who only identified himself as Tino, said the Mahlekisa concept was a good one that needed those involved to have focus.
“The guys need to improve on delivery. They have the jokes but they need to polish their delivery,” he said.
The director of the show, Ntando van Moyo who was also the MC, said they would continue with the Mahlekisa brand throughout the year.
“We are just started and we shall have the next one in February on the last Friday which is 28 February. We want to be consistent.
The five other comics that also delivered their comic sets were Keith Nkosi, Long John, Zwelibanzi “Zwekxy” Mackena, Libo HO’ Ntaka, Elando Marshall and Nomsa Diana Muleya.
Clive Chigubu was in the crowd to lend support to his fellow comics.
