to staff at the Mazowe Children’s Home for their dedication to duty that has seen her philanthropic projects succeed.Speaking during a Christmas partyshe held in honour of the workers and adopted children at the home, Amai Mugabe said her projects would not have been successful without the workers contributions.
“Had it not been for the hard work, dedication, care and love you exhibited, I do not think this home and primary school would have been in place,” she said.
“For my dreams to come true, it is because of the workers in the construction sector and the mothers who ensure the children are safe on a daily basis.”
Amai Mugabe said most of the workers stood by her even when the economy was not performing.
“We started work on our project in 2007 and went through thick and thin, but I am happy most of the workers are still with me,” she said.
“There were times when money for salaries was not available, but most of the workers continued with their hard work and today we are all talking of successful projects because of the staff. To me, you are God sent and I value your contributions much.”
Amai Mugabe commended President Mugabe for supporting her projects.
“There were times when the President would always tell me that the building of the Children’s Home and school was taking long to complete, but I stood firm and told him that it was not easy to set up such institutions,” she said. “With time and seeing where I was going, the President’s support grew from day to day and today he is proud of my work.”
Amai Mugabe said children needed love and care for them to realise their potential.
“These children need best treatment for them to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country,” she said.
“These are the future leaders and they need the best care ever. If we do not develop this generation then it means our future is doomed.”
The number of abandoned children at the Children’s Home rose to 46 following the adoption of five other children four days ago.
