First Lady urges Zanu-PF members to unite

First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has implored Zanu-PF members in the Midlands Province to unite with one objective, to build the country’s economy. Addressing the Midlands Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) in Gweru where she had been invited, the First Lady said party members should have unity of purpose and shelve whatever disagreements they might have.

She said there was need for Zimbabweans to pull in one direction and work for the nation.

“I am happy to be with you today. I have been going around the country doing other things but that does not mean that I had forgotten you. As the First Lady you serve the entire nation and help everyone.

‘‘So we have been visiting orphans, the elderly, the disabled and the generally vulnerable. We have also been working with the Ministry of Health and Child Care so that more women go for cervical cancer screening.

“The country needs a collective effort and let us work together. This is the time to build our country and we need to work together.

‘‘This can only be achieved if we are united. Mhere, mhere has no place in Zanu-PF. Whatever differences were there should be buried in the past. Let’s desist from gossiping because it is retrogressive,” she said.

Amai Mnangagwa said she has learnt a lot from the interactions she had with other First Ladies in Africa.

“As you are aware, Zimbabwe is now able to interact with other nations as a result of our re-engagement policies. We have a forum for First Ladies in Africa. We returned to this forum after a long hiatus.

‘‘This was because we had a debt but we cleared it now with the help of our Government.

“This forum has taught me several things and we have also shared with them what we have done particularly in the health sector,” she said.
