FIRST Lady Dr Grace Mugabe has urged Zimbabweans not to allow MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai to drag them into street protests over sanctions-induced hardships when he begged Western countries to impose the sanction.
Dr Mugabe was addressing thousands of people gathered at Chinhoyi Stadium for her maiden tour of provinces to thank people for nominating her to lead the Women’s League.
She said demonstrations and protests were unhelpful to the country as they will lead to the stifling of development, while destabilising the country.
“Iyezvino tirikunzwa kuti Tsvangirai arikuti ngatiendei mumastreets tinoite mademonstrations nemaprotests. Handifunge kuti zvinobatsira nyika yedu Zimbabwe. Zvanzi hapana nyika yakabudirira nemaprotests (Tsvangirai is calling for demontrations and protests, but these are not helpful),” she said.
“Isu tirikunetseka nemasanctions parizvino aakadeedzera iye muno. Tombonzi tiende mustreet iye ari busy kurara nemadzimai ake…aiwa hatidi kunzwarwo isu (We are battling sanctions which he called for. He wants us to demonstrate while he is busy bed hopping).”
Dr Mugabe said people could not be taken for granted anymore through protest politics which will only hurt the nation while benefiting the opposition MDC-T and its Western financiers.
If there are any challenges, she said, they should be channelled through the leadership, including councillors and Members of Parliament.
Dr Mugabe said Mr Tsvangirai was going against the advice of spiritual leaders who warned him to stop the protest as only agents of Satan loathed peace.
“Ndavakutenda kuti kune vamwe vanhu vanobva kwaSatan nekuti ukaona munhu achiita nharo nevanhu vanonamata, varikutsvaga Mwari vachiti kwete violence haiite iye anoti ndinotoita chete. Kuratidza kuti munhu asina gwara, haana hanya nenyika yake (Now I believe that there are some people aligned to the devil because no one contests the Word of God. If they say no to violence and he insists on that path it shows he does not care about the country),” she said.
United Family International Church leader Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa recently prophesied that protests would lead to bloodshed and instability in the country.
Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries leader Prophet Walter Magaya agreed with Prophet Makandiwa on the prophecy.
Dr Mugabe said even some of Mr Tsvangirai’s allies in the West were calling on him to step down, saying his time was up.
She said youths in the MDC-T should be wary of their leader as he could only teach them bed-hopping and violence.
Dr Mugabe was recently endorsed by all the party’s 10 provinces, the Youth League and the Women’s League for the position of Secretary for Women’s Affairs.
She said the rally marked her grand entrance into politics and she was relishing the challenge, saying she would work closely with those who came before her like the incumbent Cde Oppah Muchinguri.
She handed over 20 tonnes of maize seed for distribution to farmers under the Presidential Well-Wishers Input Scheme before calling on the leadership to give seed and food to all Zimbabweans regardless of political affiliation.
Zanu-PF provincial chairman Cde Temba Mliswa said the party structures should be at the forefront in the distribution of farming inputs.
The rally was attended by several party and Government officials including Politburo members Dr Ignatius Chombo, Cdes Webster Shamu, James Gumpo and Sylvester Nguni.
