THE Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa School of Nursing, located at Muduvuri Pan African Referral Hospital in Kadoma, is preparing to enrol its pioneer students, with classes expected to begin this May.

The hospital received a licence from the Health and Child Care Ministry to establish a pilot nursing school programme.

The Dr Auxilia Mnangagwa School of Nursing will offer diplomas for Registered General Nurses (RGN), with students engaging in both theoretical and practical training.

In a letter addressed to the hospital owner, Mr Jimayi Muduvuri, late last month, Health and Child Care Ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr Aspect Maunganidze, said the Government had gladly approved the setting up of the pilot project.

“The ministry takes note of the request to open a pilot private School of Nursing, the Auxillia Mnangagwa School of Nursing at Muduvuri Pan African Hospital in Kadoma,” he said.

“The request is hereby approved as a pilot private School of Nursing. The full terms and conditions will be availed by 15 February 2026, with provision to start in May or September 2026.”

Mr Muduvuri on Wednesday confirmed the school’s readiness to provide hands-on learning through fully equipped facilities.

He stated that the initiative to apply for a nursing school licence was aimed at ensuring that all clinics he is establishing across the country will have sufficient trained personnel.

The hospital acquired a range of modern equipment, including theatre apparatus, dialysis machines, dental units, and x-ray machines for its patients, among them people living with disabilities, the elderly and veterans of the liberation struggle.

Hospital matron and one of the instructors at the school, Ms Gladys Gunika, said that the new equipment would give learners valuable practical exposure.

Some of the students, including physically challenged Greatwin Mambowa, expressed their happiness at being part of the first group of 15 students to pilot the nursing programme at the hospital.

The Muduvuri Pan-African Hospital was officially inaugurated by President Mnangagwa in 2023.
