A FISH dealer is accused of having duped about 800 people without supplying their orders.
Nuckmore Runesu, of Bikita, who is based in Kariba, has been cashing in on more than 800 unsuspecting fish buyers, who linked up with him via a WhatsApp group.
Sources say Nuckmore removes clients, who pay for big orders, from the group after receiving their money, paid through money transfer agencies.
A number of clients have since been removed from the group after they demanded their undelivered orders.
Contacted for comment, Nuckmore told H-Metro he has been experiencing transport challenges to deliver orders to various places.
“I do not know the reason why my clients have taken this matter to the media,” said Nuckmore.
“It is common that sometimes transport challenges make us fail to deliver goods on time.
“Saka vaunza nyaya iyoyo varikuda kutimuitesei?” he said.
One of the victims, based in Borrowdale, Harare, said Nuckmore confirmed receiving her payment in July last year.
She was immediately removed from the group after she complained about late delivery.
“I lost more than US$120 to Nuckmore when I paid for fish orders last year in July and he is yet to deliver,” said the victim.
“He removed me from the group and I enquired from other clients, who were removed earlier than me, I learnt that they have also fallen victim.
“Ukahodha matemba emari shoma hanzi anouya asi ukamupa mari yakawanda ndipo pawanyurira.
“Such kind of fraud has happened to a number of unsuspecting clients of Nuckmore,” she said.
The victim is one of the victims of the “Matemba and Fish Group 7” WhatsApp group, opened by Nuckmore.
