FITNESS TRAINER WINS ESWATINI LEAGUE

By Noel Munzabwa

ZIMBABWE-BORN fitness trainer Promise Mandizidze has bagged 2024/25 MTN Premier League of Eswatini gold.

His club Nsingizini Hotspurs thrashed Sidwashini United 5-0 at the refurbished Somhlolo National Stadium to win the league title from fierce rivals Royal Leopard.

Leopard needed Hotspurs to falter but their 3-0 win over Green Mamba provided not enough points to stop the new champions.

At the end of it, from the Zimbabwe front, it was Mandizidze who became the latest of the country’s football luminaries to win the league – a list that has the likes of Ephraim Mazarura, Talent Maphosa and Stanford Ncube.

And yet it could have been double if not triple delight had the likes of Alex Sigion, Nyasha Chintuli and Junior Zindoga lasted the season.

Only last season, James Nguluve, now with Green Fuel, missed the league title after being offloaded by eventual champions Mbabane Swallows, midway through the campaign.
