IT appears being far away from the trenches of the domestic football leadership is helping Felton Kamambo.
Nine months after Kamambo was first suspended by the Sports Commission, and four months after the Councillors booted him out of office, the former ZIFA boss appears to be enjoying some peace of mind.
Maybe, it’s because he now doesn’t have to deal with the daily challenges of leading a broke association and having to scramble, now and again, to try and borrow money to enable him to send a national team to a tour of duty.
More often than not, according to reports, this meant he had to use some of his properties as security.
But, analysts will say that even though he has been out of mainstream football administration, he has been frequenting the magistrates court, where he faces a number of charges.
One of them is that he allegedly bought his way to the ZIFA chairmanship by offering gifts to the ZIFA Councillors.
He denies the charge.
The analysts say that alone means that Kamambo has been under intense pressure, given the seriousness of the charge.
But, whatever the case, Kamambo appears to be enjoying himself, far away from the challenges of being the head of the country’s football community.
Recent images appear to show a man who has gained considerable weight, with shiny skin, which is quite a transformation, from the fellow who spent the final months of his time in charge of ZIFA battling ill-health.
Now, and again, Kamambo would even plead with magistrates to give him the chance to undergo treatment in South Africa.
But, now, he appears quite happy, and healthy.
The photograph also features other ex-ZIFA board members – Philemon Machana, Bryton Malandule and Stanley Chapeta – and chief executive, Joseph Mamutse.
Mamutse was invited to be part of the new ZIFA board but he turned it down.
