HOW Mine FC’s woes continued as they played their 11th match without registering a win after being held to a nil all draw by relegation-threatened Flame Lily in a drab Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Luveve Stadium yesterday afternoon.

How Mine last registered a win on 12 July when they beat Buffaloes 1-0.

The change of leadership in the technical department has not helped matters as Jeremiah Makota has been unable to win since taking over from Luke Masomere.

How Mine’s assistant coach, Sheunesu Chaka was, however, happy with the point but stressed they need to collect maximum points if they are to stop a slide into the relegation zone.

“We obviously need to register a win since we took over, we need the three points but we are equally happy with a point it will count for a lot at the end of the season because we do not want to find ourselves fighting relegation,” he said.

Flame Lily remain rooted on position 14 with 24 points and are staring relegation in the face.

The visitors’ coach Takesure Chiragwi conceded that they should pull up their socks if they are to entertain any thoughts of playing topflight football next season.

He said although they sit precariously on the log, they still have hope of bagging enough points to survive the chop.

“A point away from home is good but the situation we are in requires that we collect maximum points in all our remaining games. Football being football we cannot throw in the towel and say we will be relegated, we just have to hold on and hope for the best,” said Chiragwi.

Last year’s joint top goal scorer Kudakwashe Musharu was guilty of missing three gilt-edged chances for the home side while Flame Lily could just not find the target.
