First it was flavoured condoms, now it’s flavoured sex herbs!
There is a frenzied run for new sex enhancing potency traditional medicine in the city, as men and women seek all means to boost their nagging libidos this winter.
It’s been the norm that when one seeks their sexual appetite, they shun the old age traditional concoctions owing to the bitter taste and stereotype that come with their use.
Instead, players of the adult game opt to rush for modern remedies, which are illegal and a risky purchase.
There has been an increase in the number of city folk who use the Musimboti brand of flavoured traditional medicine in most retail shops.
On observation, the popular traditional medicine hub has moved from packaging herbs and powdered concoctions in capsules to an appealing syrup drink-based range.
The latest that has got people talking are the “Tree of Life”, Gondolosi, and the Chitsinga herbal drinks.
Morgan Zimunya, a traditional medicine expert at Musimboti Traditional Science and Technology Institute, in an interview, said they chose to flavour their concoctions so as to appeal to the consumer, given the demand for alternative medicine during this time of the year.
“This is a first where we have packaged traditional medicine with a fusion of flavoured syrup. We want to entice people to drink traditional medicine that comes in as a drink of their choice.”
Zimunya’s latest offing “Tree of Life”, Gondolosi and Chitsinga do the best in body detox.
“With every new season, there is bound to be certain effects on the body as it reacts to the environment. In particular, we record many people seeking services when the spring season commences.
“At Musimboti Traditional Science and Technology Institute we have the new syrup-based product range that has become popular with people who want to rekindle or add a sparkle to their love and sexual life, in particular cleansing their bodies.
These come in food and drink formats. Let us bear in mind that if one is unwell, the first symptom is sexual dysfunction.
“In African societies, it is common that we drink intolwane, umgugudu, umganu and other herbs this time of the year.
These have the same medicinal properties as cinnamon, ginger and garlic.

They are listening to their bodies. It is the right thing to do,” he said.
Zimunya said Africans living in the city must learn from the Chinese, Indians and other cultures that traditional treatment is a good alternative to modern medicine.
“Our products are now packaged to suit the modern customer. We package the very products that are in demand as people seek solace on how they can boost their body performance.
If the Chinese and Indians encourage the use of traditional food and drink supplements in their everyday life, why can’t we?”
