THE resounding and historic success of the just-ended ZANU PF 22nd National People’s Conference in Mutare, Manicaland Province, delivered a powerful affirmation of the revolutionary party’s enduring dominance, unity and strategic focus, leaving its critics scrambling for relevance.
The flawless organisation, vibrant internal democracy, and clear sense of purpose that characterised the conference were a clear showcase of the party’s discipline, vision, and organisational capacity.
Running under the theme, “Attainment of Vision 2030 through Economic Empowerment and Value Addition”, the gathering unequivocally confirmed the ruling party’s status as a formidable and constitutionally entrenched political machine, seemingly “too big to fail”.
For the opposition and various critics who often attempt to paint ZANU PF as a fractured entity, the sheer scale and smooth execution of the Mutare conference served as a harsh, undeniable reality check.
This masterful exhibition of political muscle and ideological cohesion thoroughly undermined the narrative that frequently relies on predicting internal fissures.
The celebratory and focused atmosphere in Manicaland demonstrated the deep-seated stability and unity within the Party.
The Conference not only consolidated support behind President Mnangagwa’s astute leadership, but also strategically outlined the Party’s priorities for the coming year, moving seamlessly from its 2023 electoral mandate into the next phase of its national development agenda.
In his closing remarks, President Mnangagwa, who is also ZANU PF First Secretary, reaffirmed the Party’s non-negotiable role as the vanguard of national development and the tested custodian of the revolution.
“ZANU PF is alive, vibrant, and strong. It is the only organised, tried and tested custodian of our revolution and remains focused on bettering the people’s quality of life. Hatidzokeri shure/Asibuyeli emuva (We will not retreat),” President Mnangagwa declared.
The President likened ZANU PF to a strong and mighty elephant whose imposing frame would not be frightened by small animals as it trudges on to its destination.
He hailed the seamless way in which the conference was conducted, describing the organisation as “impeccable” with “breakaway sessions seamlessly coordinated” and “facilities top-notch, in line with global best practice”.
“ZANU PF has demonstrated that we are a mammoth, revolutionary mass movement which is transformative, modernising and ensuring that, as the people of this great country, we continue to be masters of our own destiny,” the President stressed.
The President directed the party’s cadres to redouble their efforts in serving the masses, underscoring that ZANU PF would continue fulfilling its promises anchored by the needs of the grassroots.
“Let us rededicate ourselves to wholeheartedly serve the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe. Stay with them in their successes, hold their hands and render them support, in their time of need,” he urged.
The party’s First Secretary also called for intensified mobilisation efforts and strict structural discipline.
“The party’s management must be centralised and unified under one leadership. As highlighted in our State of the Party Report and Resolutions, we must better organise our structures and scale up mobilisation activities.”
“The resolutions, which emerged from robust and candid discussions, were applauded by President Mnangagwa as the party’s “strategic compass” towards Vision 2030, demonstrating that ZANU PF is a “well-oiled machine ready to leap forward industrialisation and modernisation”.
Crucially, President Mnangagwa urged all members to remain loyal, disciplined, and committed to the enduring pillars of ZANU PF: Unity, Peace and Development.
The successful conclusion of the 22nd National People’s Conference in Mutare thus served as a decisive statement that ZANU PF is marching forward with a clear, unified focus on national development, heedless of the distractions from its detractors.
By reaffirming its liberation heritage and committing to Vision 2030 through economic empowerment, the party has once again demonstrated its resilience and capacity to steer the nation’s destiny.
The challenge now lies with every party member to translate the resolutions forged in Manicaland into tangible improvements in the quality of life for the people across all corners of Zimbabwe.
